After departing Dartmouth, NS it was on the road to the Ceilidh Trail which begins near Port Hawkesbury and then joins the Cabot Trail further north on Cape Breton Island. I spent most of the day riding taking only a few photos here and there. On previous road trips I explored the Ceilidh Trail in more detail, so today was more about laying down kilometers on the Harley. The first few photos in the gallery were taken in Port Hawkesbury where some kind of mining activity is taking place. My final destination for the day was the Duck Cove Inn in Margaree Harbour and that is the subject of the last two photos in the gallery.
The Ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee) Trail is named after the Scottish traditions and Gaelic folklore of the area. Ceilidh is a Gaelic word for party or gathering and is name often given to local musical gatherings across Atlantic Canada. The trail follows the western shore of Cape Breton Island through Creignish, Judique, Port Hood, Mabou, Strathlorne and Inverness, to join the Cabot Trail at Margaree Harbour.
