Being relative newcomers to PEI, my wife suggested we have a family outing to the East Point Lighthouse in Elmira. Melissa and I spent some vacation time there last year and we enjoyed the experience, so she wanted her daughters to see it too. The drive from Cornwall to Elmira is about 90 mins and we enjoyed PEI’s great scenery along the way. However, it was astonishingly cold and windy – it felt more like late November than early October. Each time we opened the doors on the jeep, the wind hit us hard. When we got to the lighthouse, I went to the shore and watched waves crashing on the rocks and it I was getting the chills. Thankfully, the lighthouse cafe serves some good clam chowder.
Around mid-afternoon we made our way home and saw a friendly fox that was the subject of my previous post. Naturally, once we got back home, the skies cleared.
