Back in February I photographed a snow moon rising over Charlottetown. The explanation behind February’s full moon name is a fairly straightforward one, it is called the Snow Moon due to the typically heavy snowfall that occurs in February. On Feb 27, I grabbed a quick and dirty photo through my living room window, the following night I packed a camera and a tripod and setup my kit on the shoreline of Charlottetown Harbour, which is just a few hundred meters from my home.

Getting the exposure was tricky as either the moon would be exposed or the buildings would have the correct exposure. I had to compromise to get both in one shot. In on instance, I removed the camera prematurely from the tripod while a long exposure was in effect. Actually, I like the effect.

In this last shoot, the full snow moon outshines the city. I know I could have layered different exposures to get everything right, but it was -14C that night and even with gloves on my fingers froze, so I packed up my kit.
